FHK regards qualified work with male perpetrators who practice violence against women as an important element in the prevention work against domestic violence.
However, this task is subject to the condition that services intended to change behaviour comply with the standards established by the Federal Working Group On Work With Perpetrators in cases of domestic violence.
These standards define work with perpetrators as work with male offenders that focuses on violence. They establish binding guidelines for the work with perpetrators and, among other things, ensure that the services are organised on a case-by-case basis in compliance with victim protection standards and in cooperation with women’s shelters and specialised counselling centres. They aim at making the offenders stop their violent behaviour in relationships and take responsibility for their actions.
FHK has intensively worked together with other networking centres from the support system for women affected by violence on developing and revising these standards.
