What we want, what we do

Violence against women affects everyone. It is a societal and structural problem—not the fate of individuals. Civil society and the state are called upon to combat this violence.

Connecting actors, joining forces

Combating violence against women requires broad social alliances across national borders. Therefore, we are committed to:

  • Political representation and professional cooperation of our member associations and individual members
  • Networking the work of women's shelters and specialist counseling centers
  • Pooling experiences from research and practice, feeding into political decision-making processes, legislative proposals and specialist policy discourses
  • Cooperation with other networking bodies and national and international organizations

Promoting violence protection

We advise politicians and ministries at federal and state level as well as various institutions on strategies to combat violence against women, for example through:

  • Statements in legislative procedures and as experts in hearings of Bundestag committees
  • Supporting scientific research projects with specialist expertise and practical experience
