Workshop discussions
The workshops provide practical support for the work of women's shelter coordination. Twice a year, representatives from professional practice (women's shelters, specialized counseling centers, intervention centers) and state-level organizations (e.g., coordination centers) from across Germany meet to exchange experiences and professional insights. Even before the founding of FHK, the first workshop on the "Federal Government's Action Plan to Combat Violence Against Women" took place in Frankfurt am Main in February 2000.
Working groups and specialist committees
Working groups and specialist committees deepen the professional work of women's shelter coordination. They address both current and longer-term issues, such as the Violence Protection and Refugee Protection Committee, the Financing Working Group, or the Early Intervention Working Group. Depending on the topic, participants include experts from professional and welfare associations, representatives from ministries or municipal umbrella organizations, and practitioners.
For FHK, exchange and cooperation with other national and international organizations are important because combating violence against women requires broad social alliances across national borders.
