How can women's shelters deal with digital, gender-based violence? What data do the nationwide women's shelter statistics provide? And how is access to the support system guaranteed for all women? Five new project profiles provide answers to these and other questions and introduce key areas of work of the Women's Shelter Coordination Association (FHK).
The profiles, each of one or two pages long, provide a compact overview of the respective project objectives, concrete measures and target groups:
Project "Effectively countering digital violence in women's shelters"
Digital violence endangers victims and their children, even in women's shelters. Our project supports professionals with training, IT consulting, and an online portal. At the same time, we raise public awareness of this important issue. The project profile is also available in English.

Project "Access for ALL women"
All women affected by violence should have access to protection and counselling. This project is working on accessible information, multilingual materials, and training courses that raise awareness among professionals about the needs of intersectionally marginalized women. A funding program also enables emergency assistance in specific individual cases.
Project "Empowering children and young people in women's shelters"
Children are also affected by domestic violence and need targeted support. With a funding program, training courses, and a professional portal , we strengthen educational professionals and create better conditions for children in women's shelters. The project profile is also available in English.

Project "Different yet strong – Encountering intersectionality in the women’s shelter"
Women affected by violence, such as racism or ableism, face additional obstacles in accessing protection from violence. In our project , we support six model sites in integrating intersectional perspectives into their work and making safe spaces more accessible for all women.
The nationwide women's shelter statistics
The women's shelter statistics are the only nationwide survey on the situation in women's shelters. They show that an average of 14.100 women and 16.000 children find protection there annually, but at the same time, over 12.000 places are lacking. The data reveals gaps in services and is an important basis for political decisions.
