FHK funding fund for emergency aid in individual cases

The costs of accommodating and caring for women and children affected by violence are often not covered by regular funding. The FHK Emergency Aid Fund provides financial support to women's shelters and specialized counseling centers in such acute cases. Funding of between €500 and €3.000 is available per individual case. An application to the FHK Emergency Aid Fund can only be submitted once per year per women's shelter or specialized counseling center.

If you have already received refinancing for a case in 2024, you can reapply for a case in 2025.

Eligible are:

  • Costs for escape to the women's and children's shelter
  • Costs for short stays in the women's shelter
  • Costs for the clearing phase
  • Costs for special needs (e.g. translation, assistance, sign language interpretation)
  • Costs for aids for special needs (e.g. flashing light bell, tactile guidance systems)
  • Costs for legal advice / legal representation
  • Costs for initial equipment in the women's shelter (e.g. hygiene products, medication, new mobile phone, etc.)

The person concerned must not have stayed in the women’s shelter for more than 6 months.

Examples of funding from the FHK Emergency Aid Fund

  • Due to her residence permit, an Afghan woman seeking protection with three children is not entitled to social benefits. The money from the funding fund can cover the costs of her stay in the women's shelter until her hardship application is decided.
  • A woman without her own income turns to the counseling center because her violent partner has taken their daughter abroad against her will. However, she is unable to obtain legal aid to pursue legal action. The FHK Emergency Aid Fund can cover part of the legal costs.
  • A student seeks protection at a women's shelter and would have to cover part of the accommodation costs herself. Due to her lack of income, she cannot afford this portion.

What cannot be funded?

Unfortunately, costs for the transition to a new apartment, including rent, deposits, and furnishings, cannot be covered.
