The shortage of women's shelter places in Germany is severe: Nationwide, there is a shortage of over 14.000 shelter places for women and their children affected by violence. One of the main reasons for this is insufficient funding. A larger number of shelters—especially accessible ones—is therefore an important building block for filling this gap.

However, the construction and financing of new women's shelters is not centrally regulated in Germany. As a federal networking agency, we therefore cannot provide information on the specific opportunities, needs, and requirements in individual regions.

We therefore recommend that you

• to contact a women's protection facility in your region directly. Women's shelters throughout Germany can be found at www.fh-suche.de.
• Contact the administrations responsible for your municipality/city/district, for example the equal opportunities officer, the ministry/senate administration for women/social affairs or the police and regulatory authorities.

There, a more concrete assessment can be made of the needs and opportunities for property donations to support the protection against violence against women.
