Trauma-educational card set GROWING UP SAFELY

GROWING UP SAFELY is a 50-card set designed to empower children and young people who have witnessed domestic violence. It provides inspiration for conversations between educators and children, helping them process their experiences in a child-friendly way. Women's and children's shelters and counseling centers of FHK eV member organizations have tested the ideas, questions, and game elements contained in the set in their work with affected children. Their expertise is made visible and shared through the card set.

Video on the Ministry of Justice's key points paper on the reform of child custody law

New FHK work materials: Talking to children about domestic violence

The worksheets for professionals and children provide methodological suggestions for practice and provide information on how those affected can be counseled, accompanied, and supported in a child-sensitive, trauma-informed, and resource-oriented manner.

Reading list: Children's book tips on intimate partner violence, domestic violence, and sexual violence

Stories play a key role in shaping children's perceptions of themselves and the world. However, children's books rarely reflect the experiences of children who witness and are victims of intimate partner violence within their families. More children than women live in Germany's women's shelters. For these children and young people, women's shelters fulfill an important function as temporary places of protection, safety, and empowerment.
