Project period: January 2023 – December 2023
“Fundraising helps!”
The fact that home is not a safe place for many women has painfully penetrated public consciousness, especially since the coronavirus pandemic. This is linked to a high level of willingness among private individuals, as well as companies and foundations, to financially support women's shelters and specialized counseling centers. Donors and sponsors want to contribute to the protection and support of affected women and children, thereby providing them with a safe temporary home. Despite their precarious funding, however, many violence protection facilities do not (yet) actively engage in fundraising.
With the project “Donations & Sponsoring – Management for the Protection against Violence against Women,” the Women’s Shelter Coordination aims to support women’s shelters and specialist counseling centers in effectively raising funds for their important tasks.
With a digital expert workshop on “Fundraising for the Protection of Women from Violence” In September 2023 and through a collection of materials, the Women's Shelter Coordination is training violence protection facilities to utilize existing donations for underfunded causes through active fundraising.
The knowledge pool on the topic block “Fundraising for women’s shelters and specialist advice centers” as well as on the topic block “Donations & Sponsoring – Management in the help system” was published in autumn 2023 in the format of FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) published on the FHK website.
The target group of the workshop and material collection are the management and staff of women's shelters and specialist counseling centers as well as employees of welfare organizations who are responsible for fundraising for the women's violence protection facilities under their auspices.
Employees of the support system will gain (more) knowledge in fundraising and donation and sponsorship management in the short term. They will test fundraising strategies for women's shelters and counseling centers in the medium term, or professionalize their existing fundraising measures and donation management. This will provide violence protection facilities with more resources in the long term for their important work with women and their children affected by violence.
This donation-funded project is made possible by the #Sicherheim donation campaign and Dirk Rossmann GmbH
