Demands: Take digital violence seriously – protect and support women

The support system is chronically underfunded. Digital violence reaches even into women's shelters. However, women's shelters and specialist counseling centers currently have insufficient capacity to

  • to ensure good digital security. It is extremely important, for example, to stop digital violence within safe spaces and prevent the perpetrator from finding the victims.
  • to deal with the associated diverse psychological stresses of those affected.

By signing the Istanbul Convention, Germany has committed itself to combating all forms of gender-based violence and thus also to implementing the prevention and combating of digital violence. This falls under Articles 33 (psychological violence), 34 (stalking), and 40 (sexual harassment).

FHK therefore calls on the federal and state governments to ensure needs-based funding for women's shelters and specialist counseling centers for counseling on digital violence, as well as training on digital violence for the police and judiciary!

The demands are available for download at the bottom of the page.
