At this year's re:publica , Ophélie Ivombo, FHK consultant for digital violence, gave insights into the model project IT consulting within the framework of the FHK project on digital violence in the short presentation " Dangerous protection gaps: Victims of digital violence in the women's shelter ".
Ophélie Ivombo first explained what digital violence can look like in the context of (ex-)partner violence and what challenges this poses for staff in women's shelters and specialist counselling centers.
She then presented the IT pilot project, which was part of the FHK project " Confronting Digital Violence in Women's Shelters with Confidence ." In March, FHK published a comprehensive final report on the project.
Ophélie Ivombo concluded her presentation with a summary addressing the question, "What is needed to ensure that victims of digital (ex-)partner violence receive better support?"
What is urgently needed is, among other things, structural expansion at all levels - federal, state and local - within the advisory work, but also awareness-raising and further training in the adjacent support system such as police and justice as well as prevention work.
re:publica is a conference on digital society, specifically on internet culture and internet policy. The conference has been held annually in Berlin since 2007. The motto of re:publica 2026 is "Never gonna give you up".
