Register now: Digital conference “Strengthening children after domestic violence”

How can children be empowered after experiencing domestic violence? Answers will be provided at the digital FHK conference in December.

On December 3, 2026, the Women's Shelter Coordination Association (FHK) is hosting the digital conference "Strengthening Children after Domestic Violence." The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 15:30 p.m.

  • Practical impulses and 
  • The program includes listening sessions on key issues of child protection in the context of domestic violence – from trauma-informed group programs and child-friendly contact advice to new legal expertise on the relationship between the German Social Code, Book VIII (SGB VIII) and the Violence Assistance Act. 

Speakers from academia and practice, including Prof. Dr. Angelika Henschel (Leuphana University of Lüneburg) and Prof. Dr. Susanne Witte (German Youth Institute), will provide insights into current concepts, methods and legal developments.

The event is aimed at employees of women's shelters and specialist advice centers, professionals in child and youth welfare, child protection and youth welfare offices, as well as related support systems. 

It will take place digitally via Zoom, allowing participation from across Germany; German Sign Language interpretation will be provided if needed. Participation costs €35 for FHK members and €65 for non-members – registration is now open.
