Also available in English: Poster on intersectional perspectives in violence prevention

The FHK poster “We all deserve protection” is available for download in English.

Geschlechtsspezifische Gewalt This affects people differently – depending on which forms of discrimination are at play simultaneously, such as racism, ableism, queerphobia or transphobia, poverty, or experiences of displacement and migration. Effectively protecting those affected requires violence prevention measures that take this reality into account.

With our poster “We all deserve protection – Intersectional perspectives for fair protection against violence” We make visible what the Istanbul Convention and EU Directive 2024/1385 specifically stipulate regarding intersectionality.

The poster

  • summarizes the key articles and recitals of both legal instruments in clear, understandable language,

  • demonstrates why intersectional perspectives are indispensable in violence prevention,

  • It is aimed at professionals in women's shelters, counselling centers, administration, politics and sponsoring organizations,

  • It supports interested parties in recognizing barriers and in arguing and working in a more discrimination-sensitive manner.

Especially in times of anti-gender discourse, rising right-wing extremism, and increasing violence, strengthening an intersectional support system is crucial. This poster aims to provide professionals with clear and understandable support and a sound basis for argumentation, both in daily practice and in exchange formats, networks, and political discussions.

The English version of the poster is available. Available for download

This poster was created within the project “Different yet strong: Encountering intersectionality in women’s shelters”, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth as part of the federal program “Living Democracy”.
