Violence against women and their children remains a pressing problem in Germany. Women's shelters and specialized counseling centers offer protection, support, and the chance for a life free of violence—but their work is often hampered by limited resources.
FHK is committed to further improving support for affected women and their children and strengthening the support system nationwide.
In order to raise additional funds for our work and to specifically support individual projects, we are represented on the Betterplace donation platform with two important topics:
Empowering children in women's shelters
Every year, more children than women find shelter in women's shelters. These children are often not only witnesses but also victims of violence themselves and urgently need support to process their experiences and build a life free of violence. With the "Empowering Children in Women's Shelters" project, we support women's shelters in meeting the needs of these children and providing them with professional support.
On Betterplace, we collect donations to create educational materials for women's shelter staff or to offer training courses.
About the project “Strengthening Children in Women’s Shelters”
Access for ALL women
Women with disability, trans* women People with a history of displacement or a refugee background are particularly affected by intimate partner violence. However, many support services are not accessible. Often, the resources to address their diverse needs and ensure inclusive access are lacking.
With the project "Women's Shelters and Counseling Centers: Access for ALL Women," we are committed to providing the lowest-threshold and barrier-free access to support services possible for all women affected by violence and their children. Supporting women's shelters and counseling centers in breaking down barriers and becoming more inclusive is one of our core priorities!
